Robert Vandegraft, age 44, passed away last week in Sedro Woolley, WA. Robert grew up in Custer, WA and graduated from Blaine High School in 1986. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years. While in the Air Force, Robert specialized in weather observing and forecasting and received awards for excelling in his occupation. He later moved to Alaska where he worked for N.O.A.A., National Weather Service. Robert had a love for baseball, whether playing it or watching a game, and also very much enjoyed and competed in running. He also had a talent and passion for music and loved to write music and play his guitar.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Don. He is survived by his son Herschel Vandegraft, Valdez, AK; mother Dolores Vandegraft, Custer, WA; sisters Pat (husband Scott) Bloomer, Yakima, WA, and Carol Vandegraft, Blaine, WA; uncles Rich (wife Mary) Vandegraft, Gladstone, OR, Bob (wife Hilda) Vandegraft, Wilmington, IL, and Jose (wife Felipa) Vasquez, Riverside, OR; great uncle Don Vandegraft, Hemet, CA; great aunts Margaret Soria, Tucson, AZ, Josie Flores, Corona, CA, and Clara Bounds, Bloomington, IL; and many loving friends and relatives.
Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Thursday, December 29 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm at Enterprise Cemetery in Custer.
