Robert Graham “Bob” Witherspoon, 72, of Bellingham WA, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013. Born in Long Beach, CA on December 19, 1940 to son of Hendry Neil and Anne Eva (Kimball) Witherspoon. He spent much of his childhood in Cranford, NJ, before returning to southern California in 1953. He joined the USAF in 1958 in Norwalk, CA. During his long and decorated career with the USAF he traveled the world. He served tours in the United States, as well as Japan, Germany, Vietnam, and Turkey before retiring to Bellingham, WA in 1988. He was a proud and longtime member of the Washington State Genealogical Society, as well as the Whatcom Genealogical Society, Skagit Valley Genealogical Society, Whatcom Literacy Council and Friends of Bellingham Public Library. Bob’s legacy includes a passionately researched family history, a true gift to his family and future generations. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Allen Witherspoon, and cousin Philip “Rod” Kimball. He is survived by two nieces, Anne Bolger-Witherspoon and her husband Lonnie Anderson, Sarah Bolger-Witherspoon and two grandnieces, all of Albuquerque; a sister, Sheila Dianne (McLauchlan) Carbrey and several nephews and nieces of Williamsville, NY; and much loved Kimball and Carey cousins. He will be missed by many family members and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Monday, October 28th at 1PM. Memorials may be made to your local public library.
