Rodney E. Jones

Born in Nicholson, PA to Emory and Sarah Jane Jones, Rod passed away in Concrete, WA on July 9, 2023. He graduated from Lackawanna Trail High School in Nicholson, PA and joined the US Army in 1980, serving for twelve years before retiring as a Ranger in 1992. The Army took him all over the States, including stays in Ft. Lewis, WA, Ft. Sherman, Panama, and Fort Leonard Wood, MO.
Always an adventurer, Rod was constantly seeking the next journey. He enjoyed skiing, rock climbing, hiking, camping, and exploring the outdoors. He discovered the Pacific Northwest in 1995 and fell in love with the local area and mountains, calling Washington his home ever since. Rod was always going out of his way for others and had a gift of bringing levity and sarcasm to every conversation. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 43.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Joseph Jones, Kimberly Jones (Michael Pearson), Ellen Jones, and Alexandria Jones (Joshua Cunningham); six grandchildren; sisters, Cindy and Ellen; mother, Sarah Jane Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of Rod’s life will be held at a later date.
