Ron the “Miracle Man” Haling passed away at his home in Bellingham on May 4, 2022 at the age of 80. He was born on March 24, 1942 in Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin, the second youngest of 13 to Frank and Grace (Eschenbauch) Haling.
Ron entered the US Army in 1962 working on helicopters during the Korean War and received an award from the mayor of Seoul, Korea citing his services in evacuating flood victims. When he returned from service, he married his wife of 56 years, Marjorie Jeffrey. Ron worked for the City of Bellingham for 20 years and retired as a supervisor of the Water Department.
Ron enjoyed crabbing, fishing, hunting, sausage making, and deep-frying turkeys. He volunteered as camp host at Lighthouse Marine Park at Point Roberts for 30 years every summer until COVID.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Grace Haling and 10 of his 12 siblings. He is survived by his wife Marjorie “Marjie” Haling, children Kori Thornton and Brian Haling, grandchildren Kevin Thornton, Tim Thornton, Sara Marie Haling, and Kaden Lee Haling and one great-grandchild Bristol Leigh Haling, as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
An Open House Celebration of Life and Reception will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 12:00pm-3pm at Westford’s Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway.
