Ron Mazzochi passed away peacefully July 11, 2022 at St. Francis of Bellingham. He had his lifelong friend, Richard, and his cousin, Jacquie and her husband Jeff, by his side. Born on March 16, 1935 to Angelo and Elvira Mazzochi in Syracuse, NY, he was raised in Solvay, NY, a graduate of Solvay schools. He graduated from Le Moyne College in1958 with a business degree. Ron had many businesses throughout his life including Real Estate, Antiques, and Gardening. He enjoyed singing and had a beautiful and powerful tenor voice. He sang with The Tyrolean Alpine Choraliers in the 70’s in Solvay and traveled with them to Europe. He cut an album with the group of traditional songs from the Dolomite Mountains which encompass Lake Garda the region his grandmother came from. Ron never loved the winters in upstate NY so he was happy to relocate to FL in the late 70’s. He sang with a Barber Shop Quartette and once sang at a Super Bowl. He also played piano and enjoyed singing with friends in his home wherever he lived. He spent many wonderful years in FL entertaining friends and family. He was a fantastic cook, offering his guests authentic Tyrolean cuisine, including his favorite dish to make, Polenta (a cornmeal delight to the Northern Italians). He used the handmade copper kettle called “Bottega del Rame” to lovingly cook it in and then a wooden platter to form and serve it from. Everything learned from his mother! Ron was a wonderful gardener, turning every home he ever lived in into an outdoor paradise, a sanctuary oasis! He was a kind person, generous, and always available for anyone in need. He made friends easily and will remain alive in the hearts of all who had the blessing of knowing him. Ron made his final life’s move out to Bellingham, WA, in 2018 to be near to relatives. He is survived by his nephew, Ruggero Mazzocchi, his niece, Marie Fay, and many cousins and countless friends. And, as Chaplain Andrea said as she prayed for Ron and anointed him at St. Francis in his final moments, “Ron will be welcomed into heaven with a party the likes of which he has never experienced”. Rest in peace, dear Ronaldo! We love you forever!
