Rosa Cardinale

Rosa Cardinale, age 85 of Bellingham, WA passed away on June 9, 2016. Rosa was the youngest of nine children born to Rocco and Caterina (Rappa) Costanzo in Capaci, Sicily, Italy on May 14, 1931.

In 1962, Rosa immigrated to the United States where she lived in Monterey, CA for a short time, then spent 13 years in San Pedro before moving to Bellingham, where she fished with her husband Pietro “Pete” Cardinale. Rosa enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had many hobbies including traveling, especially her annual 6 week trip to Hawaii, baking, cooking, knitting, and making rosary beads. She was the inspiration of Nona Rosa’s family restaurant, was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1975, a member of Catholic Daughters, the Prayer Shawl Group, and volunteered for the Senior Center.

Rosa was preceded in death by her husband Pete, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters, she is the last of her entire generation. She is survived by her three children, Rose (Dan) Bosman, Catrina (John) Bremer, and Joe (Shannon) Cardinale; 9 grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua, Gina, Maria, Tristan, Daniella, Alexandria, Isabella and Josafina; 3 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Finnegan and Mabel; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, June 17th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; 3:00 PM viewing; 4:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Reception to follow at Lairmont Manor, 405 Fieldston Rd. in Bellingham.
