Ruby Bursick

Ruby M. Bursick, age 96 of Bellingham passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2013. She was born January 8, 1917 in Leadwood, MO to Leslie and Etta (Horton) Janis. She married Frank A. Bursick on April 30, 1937 in Omaha, NE and they lived in California until she moved to Bellingham in 1992. Their son Warren was born in 1947. Ruby was an active volunteer in Warren’s schools as well as in her church. Ruby was a mentor and friend to many women in her community. She was fiercely independent and loved Southern California, sunshine and oranges. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Frank A. Bursick, brothers Marvin and Clifford Janis and sister Dolores Imhoff. She is survived by her son Warren Bursick (wife Gerri Siemens), grandson Bennett Bursick and his mother Judith E. Chance, brother Rev. Donald (wife Carol) Janis, step-grandchildren Andrianne (husband Rob) Kemp, Allison (husband Brodie) Atchison and Evan (wife Liz) Siemens, sister-in-law Joyce Janis, and many loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Westford on Thursday, June 6th from 5-7 PM. A Celebration of Ruby’s life with reception will be held at Birchwood Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 7th at 2 PM. Ruby will be buried next to her husband Frank in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
