Ruth Marion Hansen, age 90, passed away on September 4, 2011 . She was born on February 24, 1921 in Bellingham , WA . She served in the Women’s Army Corps during WWII and was a private 1st class when she was honorably discharged in 1945. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Bellingham , and worked as a custodian at WWU for 14 years. She was a member of the local VFW for many years. Her hobbies included knitting and reading. Ruth is survived by her sons Robert (Kaye) Hansen, and Wade Hansen, Grandchildren Kandis (Corey) Lindgren, Terri Hansen, and Brian (Michelle) Smith, 3 great grandchildren, and her loving nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Erling Hansen. At Ruth’s request, no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Highland Convalescent Center , 2400 Samish Way , Bellingham , WA 98229 . Ruth’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the loving staff at Highland for taking such great care of Ruth in her last years.
