Sally May Lubetich

May 21, 1935 — July 20, 2022

Sally May Lubetich, age 87, passed away in Bellingham, WA on July 20, 2022. She was born in Bellingham, the third child of Harry and Bertha Graham. Sally attended Assumption Catholic School and Bellingham High School where she made many lifelong friends. After graduating from high school, Sally yearned for new life experiences, so she moved to Seattle where she spent her days as a receptionist for an insurance company. Evenings and weekends were spent with friends at Knights of Columbus dances and making new friends, including one particular young man, Peter J. Lubetich. In 1956, Sally married Pete at St. George Catholic Church in Georgetown.

Sally and Pete moved to San Jose, CA, where they grew their family around endless sunshine activities and the construction business. In 1970, the couple returned to Bellingham to be closer to Sally’s family. While being a full-time mom to four active boys, Sally was also an active participant in all her husband’s seafood ventures. When time allowed, Sally truly enjoyed tending to her rose and vegetable gardens. Never one to stay idle, Sally enjoyed engaging with her community through organizations such as the PTA (where she was recognized with the Golden Acorn award), Hospice, and other local charities. Sally loved to host family gathering during the holidays. When she needed a well-earned respite from her busy life, she relied on her regular yoga practice, long walks with friends, and her Catholic faith to bring her back to center.

Sally was a warm and free spirit who took on life’s adventures as they arrived. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her son Anthony and her husband Pete. She is survived by her sons Christopher Lubetich (Sally), Peter G. Lubetich (former wife Sandi), and Matt Lubetich (Ester), grandchildren Alexie (James), Jordan, Nathan, Julia, Ray Ben, Jakob, and Sebastian, great-grandson Everett, and many loving relatives and friends.
