Shannon Lee McKeever was born September 22, 1974 in Bellingham and passed away on October 9, 2022 in Seattle. She is survived by parents Douglas and Audrey McKeever and her younger brother, Scott. Family and extended family were very important to her.
Shannon loved animals, and while in high school she participated in FFA (Future Farmers of America) and won awards for her sheep and goats at the Lynden Fair. She always had at least one cat all her life.
As much as she loved animals, however, Shannon was a people person. She loved being with and helping others. After graduating from high school, Shannon earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in speech pathology, graduating with honors. Because of her gratitude and admiration towards veterans, Shannon began her career working with veterans at the VA hospital in Seattle. A couple of years later she took a position at Harborview Medical Center, also in Seattle. Shannon excelled in her profession and was a positive influence for many. Seattle was Shannon’s home for more than 24 years where lasting friendships were made, but she kept in touch with and treasured the Bellingham friends she grew up with.
Shannon appreciated different cultures and valued traveling around the world, including all over the United States, Europe, Central America and Southeast Asia.
Much to the deep grief of those who knew and loved her, Shannon succumbed to an illness at the age of 48. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, at 1:00 PM at Spring Creek Bible church, 567 E. Kellogg Rd. Bellingham, WA.
