Shirley J. Crape, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side on Sunday, May 12, 2013. She was born March 13, 1929 in Walla Walla, WA to Martin and Catherine Fiedler. Shirley was a graduate of Bellingham High School. She married Herbert Crape on March 3, 1951 at Garden Street United Methodist Church in Bellingham. Shirley worked for Bellingham National Bank for 39 ½ years, retiring as Vice-President of Accounting. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Birchwood Garden Club and the American Orchid Society. Shirley enjoyed nature, gardening and playing pinochle. She was a passionate fan of the Huskies, Seahawks and Mariners. She was preceded in death by her husband Herb and her brother Calvin Fiedler. She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann (husband Ed) Essig, son Daryl (wife Lea) Crape and their children Rachel, Ryan and Jennifer and many loving relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine, WSU Foundation, P.O. Box 647010, Washington State University, Pullman, WA 99164-7010. A Celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Bellingham on Thursday, May 16th at 4 PM, followed by a reception at the church.
