Billie Lewis was born October 10, 1922 in Breckenridge, MN and passed away peacefully February 24, 2014 in Bellingham, WA, having lived in Whatcom County for the past 65 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Hazel Rosch; an infant sister, Lois; her daughter, Cheryl; and her husband, James “Bud”. She is survived by her son, Dennis Lewis and wife Judy; daughter, Rikki Bullard; brother, John Rosch and wife Barbara; 4 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Billie was widely known and respected throughout the local home-building and construction community during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s as a highly efficient and accurate materials estimator, working for Bennett Lumber, Bellingham Builders, Westside Builders, and continued to do free-lance work into her 80s.
Her interests included her family; traveling with Bud in their own airplane, camper-van, and boat; reading, and playing pinochle in card groups at the Bellingham Senior Center, the Moose Lodge, and the Elks Lodge.
Billie was a life-long Christian and attended Christ the King Community Church. She loved God, was devoted to her family, was a good friend and neighbor, and will be missed by everyone who knew her as a sweet and gracious lady. A graveside service will be held in July for the immediate family. Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice.
