Theodore Butterworth, Jr. passed quietly Friday morning after a brief illness. Known to his loved ones as Ted, he was born in Nimrod, Arkansas on June 16, 1924. During WWII, he served in the United States Army and earned a Purple Heart after being seriously wounded during a beach landing on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. During his recuperation, he met his bride-to-be, Mildred, an Army nurse stationed in Palm Springs. Ted and Mildred married and moved to Whatcom County in 1946. Ted was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Butterworth Sr., his mother, Lillian Blasingame, his grandson, James Holtrop Jr., and his great-granddaughter, Esther Francis Holtrop. Surviving Ted are his wife, Mildred, his three children, Mark, Margaret and Daniel, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many loving relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale on Wednesday July 17, 2013 at 1pm. Memorials may be made to Young Life Bellingham at P.O.
