Thomas Thor Berman

Thor Berman passed away early on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, after a long battle with cancer, with his loving partner, Carol Syson, his sister Katrina Carr, and his parents, Fred and Lynn Berman by his side. Thor was born in San Francisco, CA, and lived in Marin County until he was seven when he moved to Norway with his family. Thor learned to ski and loved hiking in the mountains surrounding his home in western Norway. When he was twelve his family moved to Whatcom County where he attended Mt. Baker High School after which he moved to CA, returning to Whatcom in his early 20’s. Thor remained an avid and accomplished skier throughout his life, served on the Mt. Baker Ski Patrol, and took pleasure in concerts, road trips, bicycle rides, strolls on the beach and in the mountains. He was most at home out of doors and enjoyed motorcycle rides in the foothills around Whatcom and Skagit Counties. Thor will be dearly missed by his family, his many friends, and co-workers at Whatcom County Public Works where he was employed for the past 17 years. His family is grateful to his team at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, support from Whatcom Hospice, and the continued outreach of caring and encouragement throughout his illness from his co-workers.
