Thomas Charles Dronen, age 85, passed away on April 23, 2024.
Tom was born April 5, 1939, in Wenatchee, WA to his parents Bert and Mary Dronen.
He lived most of his adult life in Whatcom County working as a heavy equipment operator at Intalco Aluminum Plant for 33 years until his retirement.
Tom enjoyed going to garage sales as he was a collector of many old and unique axes, saws, and knives. He loved camping and music by the fire. He would play his guitar while other family members played banjo and harmonica, and everyone sang along. Tom was an avid fisherman and enjoyed salmon fishing on the Skagit river. He loved to tell old fishing tales almost as much as fishing itself.
He also enjoyed spending time in his shop with the wood stove going. It was said by many of his friends that if they saw the smoke from his wood stove, he was home and ready for visitors to come sit by the stove for a chat or coffee (or a beer). Many friendships were nurtured around that wood stove and many a fish tale told. He was especially known for his sense of humor and ability to make others laugh.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Mary, and by siblings Richard, Larry, MaryAnn, and Will.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda, his son, Ray Dronen, and stepdaughters, Denise Adams and Di Huizenga. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as close friends.
Tom will be most remembered for his sense of humor and generosity. He will be missed.
