Timothy N. Unthank, of Bellingham, WA, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 at his home. Tim was 67, born on January 21, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA. He served in the Navy during Vietnam as a parachute rigger on the aircraft carrier Coral Sea.
Tim grew up in L.A. in the heyday of Southern California—Orange County still had oranges. He started surfing in high school at the inception of surfing, and hang glided in the mountains at the inception of hang gliding. He loved music and played the bag pipes and the guitar. When he moved to Washington, he was in awe of the natural beauty he found and never left. Tim loved people, and would give you the shirt off his back, literally. He loved his family most of all.
Tim is survived by his sons, David Unthank and wife Becky Williams, and Brian Unthank and wife Amber; two grandchildren, Elliott and Maisie; his brother, Brian Unthank; and his former wife, Cathy Unthank.
