Wally Coburn, age 67 of St. John, Virgin Islands passed away peacefully on June 5th at his sister’s home inBellingham. He was born March 24, 1946 inBoston,MA to Nancy and Wallace A. Coburn, Sr. He married Maureen Coburn on Feb 2, 1993 on a boat inCruzBay and they lived together inSt. John,Virgin Islands.
He graduated from Bellevue High School, attended theUniversityofWashingtonand served in the US Army as a medic in the Vietnam War, earning a Bronze Star. He owned Larry’s Landing inCruzBay,St. John,Virgin Islands. Wally was fun-loving, had strong opinions and was the best boss and friend you could ever have. Wally always found the best in people and supported them. Friends became family, and family became friends. He was the consummate gentleman, treating everyone with respect. He lived life well and on his own terms. Wally will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Maureen Coburn, son Colin (Caron) Coburn and their children, Sawyer, Gavin, Ali and Ella, siblings Dwight (Sue) Coburn, Cathy (Stu) Buckley and Debbie Acton (Frank Byrne), step-mother Janine Coburn, Colin’s mother Ginny Coburn and many loving relatives and friends. A Celebration of Wally’s life with military honors will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Sunday, June 9th at 2:00pm.
