Wayne Victor Engholm

June 18, 1946 — March 1, 2024

Wayne Victor Engholm, 77, of Everson, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024 in Bellingham.

Wayne was born June 18, 1946 in Bellingham to Victor and Janette (Smith) Engholm. He attended grade school in Acme and graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1964.

Wayne worked at Intalco for 25 years and, in those years, Wayne and his sons provided alder poles for the Intalco’s pot lines. Wayne was part owner of VWBT Log with his sons, Brett and Trent, and his father Vic. Trent continues to run the business to this day. After Wayne retired from Intalco, he bought out his father’s business, Mt. Baker Trucking, taking over the self-loading log truck that his father ran for years. Wayne’s sons, Brett and Jeff, also have their own businesses running self-loading log trucks, a love they learned from their grandfather, making it a true family business! In 2017, Wayne sold his truck and fully retired so he could enjoy life to the fullest. This included fishing with his family at lakes in Whatcom County and in British Columbia, a time that Wayne always treasured. He also enjoyed deer hunting trips to Eastern Washington with his sons and grandson, Carson. In the past several years, Wayne and Connie would travel to Montana for a springtime trip of gopher hunting, fishing, and visiting their granddaughter, Anna.

Wayne and Brett teamed up for the Member Guest Golf Tournament at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club for the past few years, during which Wayne made many new friends and enjoyed the father/son time.

Wayne loved to document adventures and special moments by making videos. He would edit, add music, and share the DVDs for everyone to have and enjoy for years.

If you ran into Wayne and had a moment to talk, those moments would turn into hours of storytelling and reminiscing about the old days. He loved his time with the “Baker Boys”, his MBHS graduating classmates, and also got together with the Acme Alumni from time to time for breakfasts at the Acme Café.

Wayne met Connie in September of 1999 and they were married in California on June 30, 2016. They enjoyed going on many adventures and creating the best holidays for our family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Tom. Wayne is survived by his wife, Constance; her daughter Jamie (Mike) Lindeman; his sons, Brett (Arlene) Engholm, Jeff Engholm, and Trent Engholm; brothers, Rick Engholm and Bill Engholm; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Engholm, Ashley (Corey) Williams, Anna (Johnny) Schlosser, Jaclyn (Cody) Fast, Kylee (Travis) Roosma, Carson Engholm, Keifer Lindeman, Chester Lindeman, and Weylin (Jessica) Lindeman; and nine great-grandchildren, Finley, Piper, Charlie, Presley, Briggs, Riley, Emily, Harper, and Kendall.

A celebration of life will be held at the Deming Logging Show Grounds on Saturday, April 20th at 2:00pm.
