Wendell G. “Windy” Ballard, age 93, of Bellingham, WA passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016. Windy was born to Charles and Luella (Crandell) Ballard on April 25, 1922 in Bellingham.
He graduated from Meridian High School, class of 1941, and proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. Windy worked for the U.S. Postal service as a mail carrier for 29 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion and Central Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, watching Meridian High School sports, and spending time with his family.
Windy was preceded in death by his first wife June Hansen, second wife Betty Smithey and his brother Don Ballard. He is survived by his son Steve (Scarlett) Ballard, daughter Barb (Chuck) Crnich, granddaughters Kelly (Duane) Gookstetter and Angie (Brady) O’Hare, grandsons Jeff (Melanie) Crnich and Scott (Beth) Ballard, and great-grandchildren Hannah, Luke, Trent, Rodney, Riley, Raeleen and Ruger. The family wishes to thank Christy and the caring staff at St. Francis.

Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home from 2-4 PM on Monday, March 28th. Funeral Service with military honors will be held at Westford Funeral Home at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 29th. Reception following across the street at Broadway Hall. Committal will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery.
