Wilbur O. Clausen, age 99, passed away on October 22, 2011. He was born in Blaine on June 30, 1912, to Antoinette and Otto Clausen. Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, on July 31, 2008, and by his twin sister, Wilma Veum. Wilbur was a volunteer for the Blaine Fire Dept. for 30 years and served in England during World War II, where he met and married Mary. He was a member of Post 86 American Legion for 62 years, and was a retired postal employee. Wilbur was a very loving husband and father with a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his sons, Gary Clausen and his wife Kerry; James Clausen and his wife Eileen; granddaughters, Kristin, Kelli and Janaye; grandson Shaun; great-granddaughter, Kalina; nieces and nephews John and Alice Veum, Shirley and Jay Pukaluk, Ted Veum and special friend Nancy, Don and Gail Veum, Glynis Evans. Special cousins include Darla Castagno and Cheryl Payne. The family would like to thank the caregivers and support staff at Louisa House for their loving care. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion, Post 86. A Celebration of Life, followed by a reception, will be held at Blaine Senior Center on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2 PM.
