Bill Brown, age 95, of Bellingham passed away peacefully at Whatcom Hospice House on Monday, September 12, 2016. Bill was born in Outlook, Sask., Canada to James and Laura (Mansfield) Brown on August 1, 1921.
He married Marjorie Ann Nichols at Queen Ann Baptist Church in Seattle on April 5, 1944. They spent their honeymoon in Victoria, BC. During the war years they moved often throughout the southwest U.S. They lived in Seattle and raised their five boys, then moved to Bellingham in 1965. Later they owned Ireland and Bellingar Insurance Company, which became the Unity Group. After retirement they enjoyed fishing and traveling to Eastern Washington and the wine country in California. They spent many years as “snowbirds” living in both Bellingham and Indio, CA.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie (2004) and son Daniel (2003). He is survived by son Greg (Karen) of Bellingham, son Bill (Christine) of Auburn, son David (Michael) of Seattle, son Clay (Susan) of Woodinville, daughter-in-law Karen, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and many loving relatives and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to your favorite local veteran’s organization or to Whatcom Hospice House.
Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home from 2-4 PM on Thursday, September 15th. A service of remembrance will be held at Westford Funeral Home at 11 am on Friday, September 16th, followed by a reception. Committal will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
