William James Franks, of Bellingham, WA, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 10, 2015 surrounded by his family. Bill was 87, born in Bellingham on January 20, 1928 to James and Coula (Koutselas) Franks.
He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1946 and attended Western Washington University where he met and later married Janet Wilson in 1951 in Seattle, WA. He served during the Korean Conflict with the Army Air Corps.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gus Franks and is survived by his wife Janet; 4 children, Laurie McConkey, Terry (Frank) Graham, James W. Franks, and Michael (Kellie) Franks; 6 grandchildren, Lindsey Graham, Christopher Graham, Garrett Graham, Kristopher Franks, Ryan (Jenn) Franks, and Jamie Franks; 2 great grandchildren, Alisa Graham and Ethan Franks; his brother, John (Soula) Franks and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Whatcom Hospice. Bill’s family wishes to thank the staff at North Cascade Cardiology, especially Dr. Coletti and ARNP Jessica Vittengl, and caregivers Mosa and Finau Fotu for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be Monday, July 20, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Westford Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at First Christian Church, followed by a reception and burial with military honors at Bayview Cemetery.
