Mike Hjort, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at his Lynden home on February 9, 2016. Born April 20, 1946 in Seattle to Herman and Patricia Hjort. Mike graduated from Lincoln High School and then joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a linguist.
After earning a B.A. and M.A. from Memphis State University he worked for the Memphis Park Commission, Fogelman Properties and Beale Street Management. He was an avid runner and started the Elvis Presley 10K run for Cerebral Palsy in 1983. A huge sports fan, he spent 20+ years as a play-by-play stat person for Memphis football and basketball.
Mike’s father preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother Patricia; sister Kristine Heintz (husband Mike); daughters Jennifer Weaks (husband Kevin) and Robin Forrester (husband Jay); three grandchildren, Hayden, Connor and Jack and many loving relatives and friends.
