12/20/1918 – 07/17/2012
Winston G. Shornick passed on 17 July 2012 in Bellingham, Washington. Born 1918 in Kansas City, Missouri, he miraculously met the love of his life early on. Mary and Winston married in 1939 and celebrated their 70th anniversary before Mary’s passing in 2010. Winston’s airline career spanned the length of the industry, providing unique family adventures, amazing friendships, and endless stories.
Winston is survived by siblings Dorothea and Robert; children James, David, Jeffrey, and Catherine; grandchildren Chandra Shornick, Christina Shornick, Noah Shornick, Melanie Shornick, Tina Prause, Maia Shornick, Jesse Bettis, Lara Bettis, Amanda Bettis Warren, Owen Bettis; and many great and great-great grandchildren. Winston’s devotion to Mary and their family and the momentum of his energy exemplify the power of love.
As Win preferred, no memorial is planned. Celebration of Winston’s life will continue through the lives he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered to the Lummi Island Heritage Trust or Whatcom Hospice House.
